HYSTERICAL 2024 : RADICAL CREATIVITY

20 – 31 March 2024

Private View: 19 March, 6 – 9pm

For Women’s History Month 2024, Hysterical Collective presents: Hysterical: Radical Creativity – the third instalment of the annual charity art exhibition and cultural programme taking place in March each year. Co-founded and curated by Eliza Hatch of Cheer Up Luv and Bee Illustrates, Hysterical is a queer and feminist-led exhibition and event showcase; centred around community, collaboration, and activism.

The annual event platforms many women and non-binary artists reclaiming the term ‘hysterical’, and using their voices for change. In 2022 Bee Illustrates and Eliza Hatch teamed up to create and curate Hysterical, following their debut’s massive success, Hysterical returned in 2023 – described by the Evening Standard as ‘an intimate and cathartic exploration of misogyny.’

After two consecutive years building community and creating opportunities for women and marginalised creatives – Hysterical 2024 promises to be more groundbreaking than ever, confronting audiences to interrogate their own views by exhibiting art that truly embodies radical creativity.

Hysterical facilitates a space to celebrate the innovative and subversive work of women and marginalised creatives who use their practice as a form of protest; showcasing work from underrepresented artists. Following on from the success of the past two years, Radical Creativity will span the last two weeks of March, and feature a group of 13 selected artists.

HYSTERICAL X BETH SUZANNA: Drawing with Scissors – Creative Collage Workshop

FRIDAY 29TH MARCH 2024 AT 6:00 PM

Join Hysterical 2022 alumni, Beth Suzanna for an evening of drawing with scissors!

Looking for a fun creative activity to do with friends? Looking to try a new art form? After a relaxed and friendly environment to meet like-minded creatives? In this Matisse-inspired collage workshop, we’ll be drawing using scissors to create paper portraits.

Going against the conventions of traditional drawing, we will be incorporating paper, colour, and shape to create playful illustrations.

Whether you’re creating a self-portrait or want to come along with a friend to create portraits of one another. You’ll leave the workshop with a unique piece of artwork capturing your individuality.

Collage is a relaxed way to unwind and requires no previous experience.

All materials for this workshop are provided, courtesy of Cass Art.
